A Spooktacular Update

Sorry it has taken me so long to write about our Halloween. We did have a fun holiday though. the weekend before Halloween we had the chance to head up north for 2 parties. My family had a party scheduled for Friday. So Friday I started getting our stuff packed early. We were going to head straight to my sister Nancy's house for the party and because ALL our costume stuff is in storage up in Brigham City and she lives in Sandy. We had to come up with an alternate costume. While I was packing though I came across Avery's gi that her aunt Lisa bought her. I had an idea that if James and Avery wore their gi's (karate uniform) and I could find a make shift gi. Then we could just go as that. James was able to get home from work early. He loved my idea for the alternate costumes. He found his old white belt as well as my old white belt and I found some white ribbon for Avery. We were ready. :) So we hit the road and got to the party on time. It was a lot of fun. Some of my family had put together a little spook alley that you had to go through to get to the party. When we got there we changed Avery and fed her then we all got into our costumes and were ready for fun. A lot of my family was able to make it. :) It was so good to see them all. We did a family picture. All the family in attendance and then individual families. Then we got to enjoy some yummy stews and soups with olive garden bread sticks. YUM! After dinner we played some classic Halloween games. We ate doughnuts on strings using no hands. We bobbed for apples. Then played a pop the balloon games where you had a balloon tied to your ankle and the goal is to pop everyone else's balloons before yours gets popped. I lasted a lot longer then I thought. :) Poor Avery didn't like the sound of all those balloons popping though. My mom had her during the game and had to leave the room for a little bit to calm her down. then we played murder by 3. It was so much fun to spend that time with my family and talk to everyone.
Saturday we had the Armstrong Halloween party. Avery's costume was already ready but James and I had to put ours together. So after rummaging through our box's of Halloween costumes and then making a DI (thrift store) run and a dollar store run. We were ready. the party was at Kim and Gordy's this year. So we hopped in the car and headed over. We had another fun night of spook-tacular fun. :) We had our chute little Chili pepper with us and was ready for fun. We also took a group family picture at this party. then got to enjoy some spooky dinner items. We had pasta eyeballs, Pumpkin sproogle and a jack-o-lantern pizza. Then we had a rousing game of things :) with some creepily yummy desserts. The whole weekend was a lot of fun. It was good to see all our family on both James and my side and to catch up with them all. Thanks Everyone for such a great time! The Monday before Halloween. We decided to have our family home evening be to carve our pumpkins. Avery watched us the whole time with this "what the heck are you guys doing" look on her face. :) But I think she enjoyed it. Next we helped James put together his 1970's costume for work. Halloween day I dressed Avery in her chili outfit to go trick or treating at her daddy's work. :) Everyone loved her. They thought she was so cute. The evening of Halloween we spent at home eating pizza, watching Halloween movies and handing out candy to trick or treaters. We had fun Halloween. Here are some pictures. I don't yet have the family pictures from the Earl Halloween party but would really love a copy...hint hint, wink wink, ;).
