Funeral

 Today was Nancy's funeral. It was a really beautiful but cold day. It was nice to see my mother-in-law's side of the family. We haven't seen them since Avery was a baby. This was most likely their first time meeting Kilian. The actual funeral was well done, and the graveside service was super cold but very peaceful. Nancy is being buried at the same cemetery that my Grandma and Grandpa Earl are buried, so I was able to stop by their grave as well. After the funeral, we went over to Bob's house for dinner before heading back to Ogden to hang out with Justin and the boys. Nikki was taking Gavin to his new place in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, so we didn't get to see her. But overall it was a really nice, fun, and family-filled weekend. 

Aquarium

 James' Aunt Nancy passed away this past week, and we wanted to support his family. Luckily, I found coverage for my Friday shift. So when James got off work, we headed up North. Even though the reason for the trip was sad, we wanted to try to take some time for just our family too. So on our way to Justin and Nikki's house in Ogden, we stopped in Layton and went to the aquarium there. We all had a lot of fun, especially James. We got to do some animal encounters with the birds, Bengal cats, stingrays, and goats. We missed the time for the otters and porcupine, which I was a little bummed about. I love Otters. But the whole night was so much fun. Afterward, we grabbed dinner, then went up to Nikki and Justin's for the night. 

Toquerville Mine

 Shelly and Nathan have been down this past week for a Jeep Jamboree. Today they didn't have any trails planned, so they asked if we wanted to go with them and their friends on the Toquerville Falls trail. I have been so excited to go on this trail, and now that we have a 4x4 Jeep, I couldn't wait. Well.....except. We couldn't make it. We tried our best, but the trail requires low gear, and we don't have a low 4-wheel drive on our manual transmission. So we were really burning up our clutch. We had to turn around. Avery stayed with Shelly, Nathan, and their family and friends. But Kilian wanted to go with us. We were so bummed, but didn't want to waste the day. We decided to take another trail I've been wanting to do for a while, and that's the Toquerville Mine trail. It was smooth, sandy sailing the whole way and so much fun. The hike up to the actual mine was super short, so we hiked around a bit too before heading back. Talk about turning lemons into lemonade. What started out as a bummer of a day turned out to be a lot of fun.
