Chicken Coop

Well our chicks are getting way to big for the little box in the house. They are starting to roost on the sides and hop out, but then they cant get back in. Dad was kind enough to come over today and help James build a chicken coop for them. They worked really hard and it looks good. Its not quite done yet and needs a little more work but for now it works and the chicks seem a lot happier with their new space.

New Dog

I have been so excited at the prospect of having a dog again that before we moved in I started searching. I didnt have a whole lot of luck till I found this guy on KSL Classifieds. I talked with the owner and arranged to go get him. He was kinda far away in Beryl which is about 30 to 40 miles outside Cedar City. So I got off work at 7 and headed over that way to  meet him. His name is Koa he's 10 months old, a little younger than I had wanted and he doesnt have any of his shots and he needs to be fixed but he is such a Sweetheart. He was born on a ranch and never even been in a car before today. He was a little nervous and spent most of the ride in the backseat with his head resting on my shoulder. I would scratch his ear or head to try and reassure him. We made a quick stop at my parents house to pick up some dog food for him till I was able to go to the store and get him some. He was a good boy and sat nicely in the car and waited. When I got home everyone was in the family room watching tv and playing games. I brought Koa in and his tail immediately started to wag and he got very excited. Avery was excited too, Kilian was a little nervous due to Koa's size but over all they really seemed to like him. James was happy too, not quite as excited as the kids are though. After spending some time getting Koa established with food and water and loves I started to get really tired and needed rest. Koa was happily laying on the floor with Avery and Kilian watching TV so I headed off to bed.

New Job! Pro's & Con's

Well beginning of May I was able to get a new job working at a place called Sunrise RTC. Its a place that helps young girls cope with anxiety, depression, addictions, abuse, etc. I am working as a night watch out at the Washington location. So far it's been really good. We have 4 different positions the main house has an upstairs and a downstairs. Then there's 2 outer houses that has 1 position and a then bunk house. Every 15 minutes I have to check on the girls to make sure they are either asleep, or staying in their bed. They can read or journal or just sit there but they have to be quiet and respectful of the other girls and not wake them up. I have a small list of things that need to get done as well, mostly cleaning. Other than that I can pretty much do whatever. I can play games on my phone, tablet or computer. I can watch shows, do homework. As long as I do my 15 minutes checks and everything is fine. They have a location in Washington and one in Hurricane. When I started this job  I chose the Washington location because that's where we lived. But now that we are living in Apple Valley I might switch. I don't know it might not be that bad we'll see. Right now I work Wed mornings 3-7, Friday, Saturday & Sunday 3-7. Some of the pro's and con's so far of this job....

Pro's:

No daycare and I get to stay at home with my kiddo's.

It's a super easy and fun job

I get a pretty spectacular view, whether its the moon and stars, the beautiful sunrises or the hot air balloons that are launched almost weekly.

Con's:

Now that we live in Apple Valley it's a 40 min drive. Normally I wouldn't mind this but sometimes at 7AM it can be a little tough.

Keeping up on my sleep can be hard sometimes.

One thing I found too is that I usually am not awake for our 1:00 family conference talk "class" which I really miss. I have tried to wake up for it a few times but usually have a hard time either following what everyone is saying, or I end up falling asleep.

So there you have it as far as night/graveyard shift jobs it's not at all bad. and to think I went from this...

to this...

SO much better!!!!

Graduation Day

Today Avery's teacher put together a fun little social distancing graduation party for her class to congratulate them on making it through 2nd grade. They had "year books" they could sign, goody bags and more. Avery was excited to see her friends again and to say goodbye officially to Mrs Lebaron.

First Night and New Pets

Well last night was our first night in the new house. It seemed to go ok. It's still really weird only having part of our stuff here but we'll get it all moved over soon. Kilian had fun last night.

Saturday we also stopped at Tractor Supply and picked up 6 new pets. BABY CHICKS!!! They are so cute and fluffy. The kids are in love with them and I have to keep telling them to leave them alone. :p I am so excited to be able to live in a house and on land. We are truly blessed.

Moving Day

Well we got the keys to our new rental and have the first two months paid for. We are so excited to be moving out of this apartment. The neighborhood just seems to be getting worse and Avery's "friends" seem to be getting worse and just haven't been the best example for her. Well James wants to do a slow move in. Just pack up a few things here and there and take them over since technically we have the apartment till the end of June. But at the same time he wants us to be able to sleep there this weekend. So here we are. I borrowed my parents truck from them and started to load stuff up to take over. I am not sure how I feel about this slow method of taking things over. I have a feeling I am not going to like it, but who knows it may be easier this way. Anyway so today I was able to get some stuff loaded into the truck and the kids and I took it over to the new place and spent the day there cleaning the counters and sweeping and mopping the floors. That is one thing I want to make sure of is that I have a chance to really thoroughly clean the place before we start moving in a bunch of furniture in and making it hard to do. Over it was a really great day. Avery made friends with the neighbor girl Keslee and her brothers. Now she is super excited to live there because she know she'll have friends close by. Kilian was absolutely thrilled to ride in Grandma and Grandpa's BIG truck. :) Cute boy couldn't contain his joy. Overall I think today was a good start.

A Boy and his Trucks

We have slowly started to pack up our apartment so we can start moving into the new house. A house!!! Can you believe it. No more having to tell the kids to walk lightly and don't jump around or dance to loudly.

Well this morning Kilian wasn't very happy about his Daddy leaving for work so I put him up on our dresser so he could watch Daddy drive away in his truck. We got a little more than we bargained for however. There was also a semi truck backing up into Anasazi Stone. Kilian just sat there and watched it for about 10 to 15 minutes. Occasionally he would say stuff like "big truck" or "big truck backing up, beep beep, beep" It was so cute to watch him get so excited about that truck.

A New Home

Our lease is up in June on the apartment that we are living in right now and it couldn't get here quick enough. We have had an absolute terrible time dealing with this property management group. Well we have been searching around looking at potential places to live and I came across an ad in Craigs List. I contacted the person and received a response quite fast. I asked if we could go look at the place and she said that her husband got off work around 6 so we could go see it then. At first I wasn't to sure about the place and if it was going to be a possibility. It's a house on an acre of land and has a surprisingly affordable rent. The reason why I was so unsure is because it is located in Apple Valley which is about 40 minutes away from where we are currently living. Well when James got off work I told him about it and he was excited to go see it. So we loaded up the kids and headed to Apple Valley.  It is a beautiful area and we were so stunned at the location. Everything just felt right and the landlord was so nice and he joked with us saying we looked like "his type of people". He said that as he pointed to his neckline, indicating James' garment line. :p

Well long story short....

WE'RE MOVING TO APPLE VALLEY

and we are SUPER excited.

Quarantine and Online School Fun

This whole quarantine thing has been super difficult for my poor kiddo's. Throw in the fact that Avery has to do all her schooling online now is a constant daily fight. I have tried my best to make it as fun as possible but, it is wearing me down as well. But again we have tried to make the most of it. we can at least get out every day to run down to the school to pick up lunch, I think the kids look forward to that as much as I do. Its hard having these beautiful days and not have the chance to get out and enjoy them like we usually do. But ok enough negative here's the positive. I have had the chance to bake a lot as well as try new recipes. One that turned out really well and that everyone LOVED was a homemade turkey pot pie.

Avery's school had some fun activities to help the kids out as well. Some of her homework has included making a homemade instrument, finding items around the house to make a color wheel, and going outside and collecting things to make a sculpture of a bug and more. She has had fun with these little activities.

We have also taken time to learn new crafts like friendship bracelets. Kilian has enjoyed shedding clothing throughout the day till by evening time when Daddy gets home. Kilian is happily roaming the house in nothing but his diaper.😂

We also try to get out of the house and go for little hikes or car rides. And we always take rocks with us to hide while we're out. Sometimes if no one is there we will go to the Slick rock Park. The kids love that because we always take their scooter and tricycle to play with.
