Sunday Thoughts

Today in our combined meeting a sister got up and talked about how we need to learn to be a faithful and gradual people. She said a lot of the times we think or say or put on our to do list that today we need to get our year supply of food storage, or that we need ot read the book of mormon. Then after we put that on our list it becomes so overwhelming that we keep putting it off and putting it off. She related it to her running. She said she would start and be ready and fired up but then she would run full force for a block and be so tired that she would stop go home and then not go out again. But she tried again and instead of starting full force, she gave herself a goal to run for 5 minutes straight and each day she would bump that time up more and more until she realized that she really loved running. She said that we need to do the same in our spiritual lives. Instead of beating ourselves up for not reading or having our year supply. she said we need to start slow. Maybe start reading a verse a day or maybe just look in our pantrys and see what we already have that we can say is our year supply. She said instead of trying to take on the whole elephant at once (hence the picture ;p) we need to just take on bit by bit until we complete our goal or until we find it becomes easy. If we seek the Lords help as we do this and continue faithfully she said we will see miracles. they may not be huge "bam" and "zap" type miracles they may just be small. But as long as we keep the Lord in our efforts and be faithful to him and his commandments than he will help us and we will see miralces in our lives.

"I the Lord am bound when ye do what I say; but when ye do not what I say, ye have no promise."

Pulling things out of the kitchen drawers
 Daddy
Being outside and going for walks
Playing in her pool
The slide at the park
Talking and singing

Some of the things she is scared of.

The car wash
The Doctors office
The car horn (outside the car)

Some of the new things she is doing:

She has learned how to throw a temper tantrum. She sits on her butt and then lays down and crys with her hands in the air.

Sunday Thoughts

Today almost all the meetings focused on the family. It was actually good timing for all these lessons, they really made me think about James, Avery and I. My family, and James' family. I am really blessed. I have a great family. I know we don't always get along, but what family does. This past week was a special one for my niece and her little family especially. Her and her husband are going to have a cute baby girl, not just any day now. But more like any hour now. But they had the chance to go through the temple this weekend. It's such a blessing for them to have that opportunity. So now they can be a forever family. Family I think is something we all take for granted. I know I do. So I just want to say to any of my family members who read this. Thank you for all you do and all you have done. You hold a real special place in my heart.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

1 year ago today we were blessed with our sweet spirited little girl. Avery Mae has kept us on our toes since. She has always been such a happy and lovable baby. She is quick to give loves but she also lets you know how she feels. The picture above captures her cute personality so well.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY SWEET BABY GIRL!

I will do my 12 month post soon. :)

The Day Before My Baby's Birthday

So the picture isn't quite as true for this time but give it a few hours and yeah it'll be true. :p
So I am posting this just to kinda get it out there and document it. I have been preparing and preparing that I haven't really thought to much about how I will feel about my baby turning 1. As the day got closer to the end though it has started to hit me more and more. And now that Avery is sleeping peacefully and that I have had a chance to just think. It has hit me and I have been going through a kind of play by play as to what I was doing this time last year. As of right now it is a little past 10:00PM. I was starting to gather up some stuff to go to the hospital. I was so nervous and excited and ready but scared. I was already 9 days past my due date. So I was ready, but with it being my first time I didn't know what to expect and I was afraid of the pain. We went into the hospital at Midnight and it took 22 hours before we finally met her. I cant believe that she is already 1. That year went by so fast. I was watching her playing and walking around today. She is so grown up...well as grown up as a 1 year old is. :p But what I mean is I cant believe that she is no longer a little baby but more of a small person now. She can hold her own with her cousins, not just the twins that are 2. But with the 4 and 6 year old as well. She is so cute, cuddly and lovable. But also very fiery and feisty. :) Anyway I just wanted to talk out what was going through my head and what I was feeling right now. Thanks

Happy Fathers Day

Happy Fathers Day to some wonderful fathers. First to my hubby.
James is such a cute father. he loves spending time with Avery. He thought he wasnt going to like being a father and was pretty nervous up till she was born. After she was born when James got to hold her for the first time. He was holding her and she opened her eyes and looked up at James and they just stared at each other. I watched them for awhile. James said he just melted and fell in love with her. I love it when James comes home from work, Avery gets so excited and sayys Daddy and laughs as she walks towards him. I really need to get it on video it's so cute.
HAPPY FATHERS DAY HONEY! Love You!

Now for my father in law. In his eyes his granddaughters can do no wrong. all 2 of them. :p He loves spending time with Avery, his favorite time I think is in the mornings when he can go and sit on the back porch with her. When she was little and we use to live in Cedar after Avery would wake up and had her breakfast. He would take her and sit on our little balcony with my mother in law. And Avery would usually fall asleep in his arms. They have taken us into their home and my fatehr in law has worked so hard on the basement to try and get it finished so we could live down there.
HAPPY FATHERS DAY!!!

Next is to my Dad. My Dad has taught me so many things throughout my life. Good work ethic, how to put family time before jobs, and many many more. he's not much into babies but when they grow up a little he loves playing games with them and tickling them. He was the one at Christmas time who kept trying to sneak Avery her gifts early. On Christmas Eve night he sat right on the floor  with her and gave her a present to open. it was such a cute moment and that I did get a picture of. :)
HAPPY FATHERS DAY!

Here's to all the Fathers in my life. I hope you have a wonderful fathers day!

Sunday Thoughts

Today hasn't been the best of days. Avery hasn't been feeling very good and today right before church she decided to be a complete grumble Gus. So I put her down for a nap and she slept for a little over 3 hours. Pretty much nixing church. Plus things right now are NOT going well and I am going through  quite a few struggles on top of my normal everyday struggles and I can feel myself becoming unhinged and slowly reaching a breaking point. So I was sitting on the couch having this inward struggle and feeling like I was all alone in this when my friend posted this...

For a moment I almost started to cry.
Sorry this isn't so grand but this picture and saying is my Sunday thought for this week.

Sunday Thoughts

Awhile back I did these Sunday thought blog posts. I would like to restart them. I found that I benefited from them and loved the chance to have them where I can go and look them up again.
First off I know I have some readers that may not know so  I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Our church is also known as Mormons. I don't know why but I felt that I needed to say that.
Anyway awhile ago, Avery and I had a chance to go to my parents and stay with them for a couple weeks. The Sunday that we were there my former Seminary teacher was speaking at all the wards with the Senior class Seminary council. His talk has still stuck with me to this day. He talked about how him and his wife had lived in Monticello for awhile (I think he said a year) when a gentlemen approached him and asked him when he was going to decided to be apart of the community. He confessed that he was a little taken back and slightly hurt. But as he thought about it more and more it made sense what this man was saying. He then explained that even though they had participated in many community events they were still renting and had set any real roots. He then related this to the gospel. he said that when we are young we "rent" the gospel and our testimonies from our parents, family and friends. But as we get older we need to realize that renting will only take you so far. Pretty soon you will need to decided if you are only a renter of the gospel or if you want to take it into your life and own it. He then said that this cant happen all at once, it'll take time. He said as we come to know certain principles of the gospel and see the power of that principle for ourselves then we can own it. My mission president also once told me that it is a wonderful thing to be able to know something for yourself. and to be able to say I know. But it's an even greater thing to know it so much that it infuses in you and makes you want to be a better person. Then not only can you say that you know, but then you can testify of it's truthfulness. I will be the first to admit that I have quite a few principles in the gospel that I still rent. So my goal is to work on it. Learn more about these principles until I can finally say that I am an owner of the gospel, not just a renter.
