DISNEYLAND Part 1

In April we got the opportunity to go to Disneyland with my parents. They came down the night of April 1st. It was great because I got to see my good friend Karen and her little family on the same day. That night was just a relaxing kind of night. Saturday we watched the morning session of conference and between the sessions we went for a drive to look at various areas. My parent really want to move to the St George area so when they come down we go look at various places so they can get an idea of the areas they like so when their home sells they will know where to look for houses. Back home for the afternoon session and then off to the store to pick up some snacks and goodies for the drive to Cali. Dad and James went to priesthood session. Saturday I packed most of what we were going to be taking, but still had laundry and stuff to do. Sunday morning we listening to conference while we also got ready for the drive. After the morning session we were on our way. Avery did so well the whole drive. I had bought her a travel coloring book and she was pre-occupied most o the trip with that. The other time she would play with her leap pad and talk to who ever was sitting in the back with her. Mostly grandma and daddy. This was really good too because outside of Prim Nevada we hit some bad traffic that delayed us about 45 minutes and then in Cali we hit more bad traffic that seriously delayed us. So a drive that was going to take 6 hours at most ended up being almost 9 hours. By the time we got to the hotel we had all about had it, everyone except Avery had a headache and we were tired. :p We ordered a pizza and had dinner with Mom; Dad was already asleep. :p It did take a little bit to get Avery calmed down, she was so excited.
Monday April 4-Avery was beside herself when she woke up, at breakfast she was going between our table and mom and dad's. When we were heading to the car she beat everyone to the car and was in her car seat waiting to be buckled. We had a little trouble with getting our tickets; mom realized she forgot the conformation at home...in Monticello. :p But after talking to the manager and asking mom a few questions they gave us the tickets. We headed into California Adventure first, as soon as we got into the park and was trying to decide where to go Avery announced she had to go to the bathroom. :p Which was perfect cause it gave us time to take a look at the various things and decide where we wanted to go and what we wanted to do. Avery noticed the Monsters Inc. sign which turned out to be a ride. The line wasn't to bad and they had fun signs and things to look at while waiting. Avery loved the ride and was hooked. We went to bugs land after that and rode on a couple rides and then went to the bugs theater to see the 3D show. But it was actually a sneak preview of the new live action Disney movie The Jungle Book, Avery couldn't take her eyes off the screen, in fact she was leaning so far forward she didn't feel the "Bee stings". (an interactive part of the show. The bench we were sitting on had things that moved so something would poke you in the back to imitate the bee sting. And water would splash on you when they were in the river.) It made me think that maybe it was time to try taking her to a movie in the theater. :) We were so close to cars land that we decided to stop in and see that. When we turned the corner and saw the same main street in front of us that is on the movie I couldn't believe it. Then with the towering red rock in the distance I felt like we had somehow gotten back home. It was really unreal I couldn't get over the view.We started to look around but that's when we decided we were REALLY hungry. We went to Flo's V8 Cafe to ate. Yes we did! it was amazing we were actually able to get a table inside away from the heat and right next to the big racing ride. So we got to watch all the people racing by as we ate. The food was pretty good too. After that short break and full tummy's we felt a lot better. We decided to go try and get on the racing ride, but it had an hour and a half wait and was out of fast past tickets. So we headed over and saw Red the fire truck. James, mom, and dad had a sit down while Avery and I waited in line to see Red. After we saw we were next to tow-maters ride. it was the tractors with trailers on the back. You sat in the trailers and got a ride while getting flung around. I don't know its hard to explain but Avery LOVED it. She went with grandma and grandpa and James and I heard her laughing and screaming the whole time, and every time we got a glimpse of her she had the biggest smile on her face. It was so cute I wish I could have gotten a picture or video or something. After that Mom wanted to go to a ride called Soar'n over California so we headed that way. Avery was kind of scared of this ride, she was holding my hand and James the whole time. The only time she started to relax a bit was close to the very end and then she got really excited when she saw Tinkerbell. James said that through the whole thing she was sucking on his thumb and at one point she got so nervous she bit it. :p After that grandpa needed a rest so while they rested in the shade by a bench we took Avery into a nature hike. They had a fort where you could play on ropes and slides and they had a cave where you could find out your spirit animal. Avery loved it, we found a spot to sit while Avery just went down the slide numerous times. Then it was time to head to the pier where Avery was excited to find an Ariel ride with virtually no line. Score! Avery loved that ride, well she loves Ariel and the little mermaid. By this time it was getting late and we were getting a little worn down. We went and got some ice cream to see if we could get some more energy and then headed to Toy Story Mania. That line is ALWAYS long and Avery was really starting to act up at this point. She was getting tired and hungry and over stimulated. She still had fun on the ride though, and over all was a little angel all day. I cant believe how well behaved she had been. we enjoyed some of the sights and sounds while we decided what we wanted to do. I got into pin trading and went to a few places throughout the day to trade pins. We decided to head back to the hotel for the night and also go find some food. As we headed out we saw the water drawing custodians and stopped to watch her, it was really neat. Then we saw a short line for MICKEY! mom and dad insisted they were fine and waited for us on a bench while we went and saw Mickey. Avery was so shy but she loved meeting him, Mickey was interacting with her so well I was a little shocked and grateful with how special she made him feel. He even noticed that she was wearing a Minnie dress and pointed to it and put his hand over his heart to indicate that Avery was wearing a dress with the picture of his love. It was so cute to watch them interact. We got a picture of her and mickey and then all of us and Mickey. It was so fun to see her get so excited and shy at the same time. We then headed to our car and picked up some burgers on the way to our hotel Avery fell asleep about a block away from Disney. (Our hotel was about 5 blocks from Disney) Before we left I had laid out some new Elsa pajamas on our bed for Avery to find when we got back to the hotel. They are so cute its a little sleeper dress. When we got back to the hotel she saw her new Elsa dress and with wide eyes asked if it was hers. She immediately put it on and climbed into bed with us to eat our dinner. She wasn't even half way through her hot dog before she zonked out. :) James and I stayed up a little longer watching TV and eating our dinner before we called it a night.
