After 2 years...

In all honesty after 2 years of trying to get pregnant without any success. I was a little sick of getting so upset every month when I found out yet again I wasn't pregnant. So when I was late this month but not quite late "enough" I didn't think anything of it. On Tues. I had a faint thought that maybe but then I brushed that away, but it was still on my mind. On the 24th I realized that it really could be a possibility but again i kept pushing the thought aside. But something kept saying. So wed night I had this feeling that I Really should just take a pregnancy test and I thought fine I'll take the stupid test and then when it comes back negative I'll be all sad and depressed but it wasn't a big deal cause I'll get over it like all the other times. So I was pretty excited to see that the test was.... POSITIVE!!!! :D I had to check at least 5 times to make sure..and read the instructions again. I told James I wanted to go shopping and he looked at me kinda funny and said..."right now?" (I hadn't told him yet) i said I wanted to walk more and was interested in looking at pedometers (which is true) I went to Shopko right next to a Babies R Us and asked if we could go in and look. He reminded me that I shouldn't get my hopes up and from what i thought I saw he was preparing himself to face a sad wife when we left. I started looking at cribs and asked him how he thought we should decorate the nursery. He gave me one of those "you shouldn't do this to yourself" looks then I handed the test to him. He first asked what it was and then said "does that mean it's positive or something." It SURE DOES. :):):):) He was pretty struck but very excited. He said he felt more relived at the moment. I am almost 6 weeks along and the due date is Dec 1 :). YAY!!! I'm so excited and cant stop smiling.

NINE WORDS WOMEN USE

(1) Fine: This is the word women use to end an argument when they feel they are right and you need to shut up.

(2) Five Minutes: If she is getting dressed, this means a half an hour. Five minutes is only five minutes if you have just been given five more minutes to watch the game before helping around the house.

(3) Nothing: This is the calm before the storm. This means something, and you should be on your toes. Arguments that begin with nothing usually end in fine.

(4) Go Ahead: This is a dare, not permission. Don't Do It!

(5) Loud Sigh: This is actually a word, but is a non-verbal statement often misunderstood by men. A loud sigh means she thinks you are an idiot and wonders why she is wasting her time standing here and arguing with you about nothing. (Refer back to # 3 for the meaning of nothing.)

(6) That's Okay: This is one of the most dangerous statements a women can make to a man. That's okay means she wants to think long and hard before deciding how and when you will pay for your mistake.

(7) Thanks: A woman is thanking you, do not question, or faint. Just say you're welcome. (I want to add a clause here - This is true, unless she says 'Thanks a lot' - that is PURE sarcasm and she is not thanking you at all. DO NOT say 'you're welcome' . that will bring on a 'whatever').

(8) Whatever: Is a woman's way of saying "to H#ll with you!"

(9) Don't worry about it, I got it: Another dangerous statement, meaning this is something that a woman has asked a man to do several times, but is now doing it herself. This will later result in a man asking 'What's wrong?' For the woman's response refer to # 3.

Everbody needs...

A nice relaxing weekend. :) Well in a sense. I didn't have any plans this weekend, no where I needed to be or do. It was great. James was asked to help judge at the annual testing at the dragon and the phoenix (his martial arts school) and since this is a by invitation only testing and James wasn't doing anything I wasn't invited. :p So Saturday i slept in late (real late actually) cleaned the house at my own pace, made bread and took a drive with Rosko up into around trappers loop and down into Huntsville. It have been missing the country so it was nice to be on dirt roads, no cars or stop lights and land and horses as far as the eye could see...well till your gaze hit the mountain. :p I looked at houses there just for the fun of it and enjoyed the sunshine and fresh air. When I got home James was there so we went and bought fixin's for pizza. We made two cookie sheet sized pizza's one was half pepperoni and pepperoni and lives and the other was half extra cheese and Canadian bacon and pineapple. then we watched some "TV" while we ate pizza, cadbury eggs and yummy drinks. :) It was a wonderful Saturday. Sunday was my first official day as the new nursery leader and I had no clue what I was doing, the lady who was the former nursery leader ran off to Relief Society as soon as she learned who I was. I didn't know what to do, I barely know how to deal with kids let alone a calling like this. But there were two other fabulous lady's there who helped me. it all worked out ok and the kids are so cute. :) I think this calling will be ok. After church James and I headed over to Nikki's for a night with the family and to enjoy the nice weather we've been having. All in all it was a great weekend. :)

Happy St. Patrick's Day Everyone!!! :)

A couple years ago I did a post on the origins of St. Patrick's day, but this year I thought it would be fun to share stories of past St. Patrick's day, I was going to add a prize but I couldn't think of a good Irish prize to give so sorry no prize this time just some good ol' fashion story tellin of past memories. I was thinking of past St. Patrick's day's and I have a lot of memories of elementary school covered in leprechaun feet (green paint done by the teachers) and how the leprechauns hid treats for each teacher for their students to find usually in their pot of gold. :) Oh and how kids would search out those kids who forgot to wear green that day and pinch them as hard as they could....still the reason I wear green every St. Patrick's Day. :p (Getting pinched hurts) It always seems like that to me, St. Patrick's day seems likes it's mostly celebrated by either kids or the people who go out to bars to drink green beer or radio stations who have their listeners do crazy things for tickets and other prizes. But one year when I worked at unisource in Washington (the real life version of Dunder Mifflin. :p) we decided it would be fun to celebrate St. Patrick's day, so taking those memories from elementary school we covered the walls with cut out leprechaun feet that lead to various locations in the office where people would find green donuts and drinks and other little fun prizes and we had a fun little St. Patty's day luncheon. It was really very fun and everyone had a great time and that is probably the most I've ever seen people wear green in an office. :) It was great. K now it's your turn...What fun memories do you have of celebrating St. Patrick's day? Cant wait to hear about them.

Our life

Well to start we had a great weekend, Friday was date night and we had the chance to get a pizza and watch a movie. Just nice and relaxing. Saturday we had our good friends the Stewarts come over for dinner and games. It was so much fun, we played a bunch of different games mostly on the wii...k all of them on the wii but still tons of fun. We haven't seen them for a few months so it was really good to spend that time with them. Thanks guys!!! :) Sunday was a nice relaxing day that we were able to spend with the family. Other than that life is good. I was released from my calling in church as a Sunday school teacher and was called as the new nursery leader. I am a little nervous about that and I keep having these crazy dreams about it. But it'll be good. James gets to register for classes on Monday the 22nd for the Summer Semester and he is really anxious to get that going and start his new routine. He is not on swing shift yet but his boss told him to be patient and they'll move him over as soon as possible. He just hopes it's before school starts so he can get use to his new work hours. Mom and Dad Earl are doing good. Mom says that Dad talks to everyone and his Spanish is really improving. She also says that work at the baptistery (in the temple) has slowed down quite a bit because every ones gone back to school, but she was amazed at how many youth come to the temple. They get to call us quite a bit which is neat, they have learned the joys of Skype and get to talk to the family quite regularly with that. James and I don't have Internet so we haven't had that chance yet, but they call us on our cell phones every once in awhile. That's pretty much it for us, I know kinda boring huh. Well maybe with the warmer weather I'll have more to post about later. :)

Happy Birthday

Today is my niece Lexi's birthday. Hooray and I wanted to wish her a happy birthday. Lexi loves having fun, whether its hanging out with her family, hiking up a mountain or watching the latest movie. She loves the outdoors and spending as much time outside as possible, she loves to swim and looks forward to her family's yearly vacation to Lake Powell. Lexi is also an avid movie fan, she loves to check out the latest movie that has come out and going to ones she's already seen as much as she can. So here's to you Lexi on your day I hope you have a blast. :)

Today is my sister in law Lisa's birthday. Lisa is an avid reader and likes nothing more than curling up with a nice soft, warm blanket and a stack of good books. :) She loves telling us about her latest read and you can always turn to her to give you a good recommendation for a book. She is a wonderful aunt and loves to play with the kids and spend time with them...especially Abby who is just as fond of books as Lisa is. Lisa also has a lot of interesting and funny stories from her work at the juvenile court from the judges, bailiffs and anyone else. She loves to laugh and play games and spend as much time with her family as possible. :) So here's to you Lisa on your day...

Happy Birthday.

Today is Josh's birthday and I want to wish him a happy birthday. Josh is definitely a boy :p He loves trucks, race cars, helicopters and any other mode of transportation. Plus dirt, mud, dinosaurs, and of course superheroes. His favorite right now is spider man and iron man. He loves to chat and tell you stories about his heroes and things he has done. He loves going down to the ranch in Monticello to see his dog and help his dad with all the work, he loves helping his dad fix cars and the tractors and anything else he needs to do. He loves his mom but I think he's more of a daddy's boy. :p He loves school and makes friends very easily. Here's to you Josh on your fun day... :)

In Memory of Wesley Dee Jensen

Obituary for: WESLEY DEE JENSEN
"Wesley Dee Jensen Wes Wesley Dee Jensen, dear son, brother, uncle and friend, born April 21, 1961 to Gordon D. and Nancy Kay Jensen passed peacefully to his loving Heavenly Father on February 25, 2010 after suffering a sudden stroke. He was surrounded by his loving family. Wes spent his childhood in Sandy Utah where he rode mini-bikes, ran in fields and played in creeks; living out every boyhood dream. He attended Brighton High School where he made many life-long friends. Wes lived life to the fullest. He was an avid water skier and would jump at the chance to be on the lake with his family and friends. He loved working for his father's business and was proud to be Gordy and Nancy's son. He was happiest when he was driving the big rig, playing David Allan Coe music, and feeling the wind in his face. Wes loved riding his Harley with his dad, brothers and sister. There are many happy memories with him leading the way over East Canyon. His nephews and nieces will forever remember playing with their strong uncle. He was especially close to his mother Nancy and together they shared more than most mothers & sons do. He was a big hearted soul and was always there to defend a friend or an underdog. He is survived by his loving family, parents, Gordon and Nancy Jensen; brothers and sister, Clint (Sally), Dale, Brenda (Tom) Skowyra and Zane. His love for his nieces and nephews Bridger, Annie, Aisha, Dillon, Tannon, Zach, Nathan, Daisha, Bailey, Anthony, Austin, and Mariah was evident when he was with them. They were his pride and joy. Preceded in death by his grandparents Alden and LaVerna Kay and Lawrence and Lorraine Jensen. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East 10600 South in Sandy. To Wes and Family,
I didn't know Wes very well, I think I only met him once or twice. But from the stories you tell and love in your voice he sounds like a wonderful man that I would have liked to get to know. I am sorry for this loss of this great man and hope that the Lord may give you peace during this hard time. I want to thank you for all you have done for James and I and for the love and acceptance that I have felt from you since I have joined your family. We will keep you in our prayers.

In Memory of Wesley Dee Jensen

This past weekend we did get some sad news. James' cousin Wesley ("Wes") had a stroke and the doctors did all they could but he was almost gone. A respiratory was the only thing keeping his body alive. After a while we received a call saying that they had taken him off the respirator and that we were invited to the funeral on Tuesday. James unfortunately couldn't get away from work, he had a training that he was told was mandatory. So I left work early and picked up his sister Lisa and we headed out to Sandy to the Larkin Cemetery. At first I felt like I might be an intruder but after awhile I felt like one of the family. The viewing was very nice, there was a TV by the door to the viewing room and in the lobby that played a video about Wes's life and a book to sign. We had a family prayer in the viewing room and then was invited to come and pay final respects before the casket was closed. Even though I never really knew Wes,(I think I only met him a couple of times) the prayer was so beautiful and watching everyone around me that I have grown to love so much hurt like that made me cry. I have never seen Kim so hurt and having such a hard time. It made me sad but also I was so grateful to be brought up in the gospel and have such a firm testimony in the plan of salvation and to have a sure knowledge that Wes is happier and in such a more wonderful place. It was heartbreaking to watch Nancy (Wes's mom) bend over his casket and give his cheek one final kiss while she cried and said her goodbyes. Her husband Gordon (big Gordy as James likes to call him) had to come over and gentle a slowly pull her away. She helped them fold the fabric into the casket and she sat there for a while smoothing the fabric then the casket was closed and the flowers placed on top. The pall bearers came forward and placed the casket on a little trolley with wheels and we walked down the road behind to the grave site. On that walk down I got to meet more of James' family and was introduced as James' wife. :p for almost the rest of the night. it didn't bother me...it actually made me smile. James' uncle Don came and put his arm around me on the walk down and asked me how my two newest little ones are. At first I had a confused look on my face, I wasn't sure if he was referring to James and I being "newly weds" and all or if he thought that we had kids. Mom Armstrong kinda laughed at my face and informed Uncle Don that I wasn't Nikki...it made more sense after that. I was introduced again as James' wife. :) Don was a lot of fun he talked and joked with us as we walked down. So fun. When we got to the grave site every huddled together against a cold wind that had picked up and we had another prayer and then Dale, Wes's brother, came up with his sister Brenda to read his obituary in the paper and the say a few things about Wes. After Clint got up (another Uncle) and told us that some of Wes' final requests were to not have a funeral for him, to just put him in a pine box, play some music and songs he liked and not have a funeral. Clint said to respect his wishes they wanted anyone to come up and tell some appropriate and fond memories of Wes. Quite a few people got up, from Wes' brothers and sister to his nephews and nieces. He even had two nephews get up and read a couple memories from brothers and sisters who couldn't come to the funeral. Then Clint got back up and said he just wanted to say a few words and didn't want to make it long for fear of not wanting it to sound more like a funeral. He then talked about how we are all children of a loving Heavenly Father and how this life is only temporary and the main goal is to return to our father in heaven and lives with him forever. He said how he knew that Wes was happy now because he was living with his Heavenly Father and how he would want us to remember all the good he did in his life. After his remarks his son Dillon (Wes's nephew) dedicated the grave with a beautiful dedicatory prayer. After a man came down and played the bagpipes while Aisha (Wes's niece) handed a white balloon to all the nieces and nephews they gathered together and one by one let the balloons go and watched them "fly to heaven". After the bagpipes were over and done being played a CD was turned on with a bunch of different songs that Wes loved while people slowly said their goodbyes and left. It was really very beautiful and I felt the spirit so strong, it was so amazing and even though I was just "James wife" I felt like something more, I felt like this was just family and I was prat of it no matter how distant we may be. Before leaving Lisa and I walked over to my Grandma and Grandpa Earl's grave and my Great Grandma and Grandpa Jones. I haven't been to those graves in years and even though I felt a little silly not having any flowers to put on the graves I felt good about going over there...kinda like stopping in to say hi. I wasn't the nicest person to my grandma Earl and I still feel so guilty to this day about it, i have asked forgiveness many, many times but I am still a little unsure if I have been forgiven. We stayed at my grandparents grave for a short while and then headed over to Clint and Sally's for a luncheon. Nikki came to the luncheon (She didn't want to bring Abby to the viewing because Abby has been a little afraid of death lately with her heart surgery coming up) and the kids were in the backyard jumping on the trampoline. Abby came running up to show us a device that will be monitoring her heart for the next 24 to 48 hours. She seemed really excited about it. Lisa left and went to socialize and I socialized with Nikki and Bob for awhile but felt a little out of place so when little Ethan wanted to go out I volunteered to take him out I stayed outside for a while playing with the kids...even after Ethan went back inside with his mom We jumped on the trampoline and played a whole bunch of different games. Then dinner was ready and the 2 oldest went in to eat Gavin stayed out and Ethan came out too so I stayed out with them. i was a really nice day for March. After awhile Abby joined us and we went on playing a bunch of trampoline games like crack the egg and dead man. The last game I was a little self conscience about. I was able to get a hold of James (his training went till 6:30 instead of his usual 7-3:30) to let him know we were here and might even still be here after he gets off. He wanted to talk to Nancy so I took the phone in to find her. After that I made him a plate (which was Sally's idea) and ate dinner myself. Half way through the kids were back asking if I was read to go back out. :) We went back out only for a little while longer...by that time it was getting colder and I was getting tired and sore. so it was time to head back inside. The rest of the night was spent talking with people (James' cousin carol REALLY liked me for some reason I'm not sure why. :p She kept pointing at me and laughing and saying I was so sweet.) and meeting the rest of the people I somehow missed. One of those was James' cousin Dale. He was talking to Lisa and i was standing on the other side of the counter listening but not talking much when he asked about James. Lisa quickly informed him that he was unable to make it due to work and said but his wife did. Dale seemed confused for a minute and said "his wife?" Lisa laughed and said yeah and pointed at me and asked him if we had met he said no and then he apologized. It was cute he kept saying he was so sorry and he hoped I didn't think him rude for staring cause he didn't know who I was at the viewing. he's a really sweet guy, I asked him if he wanted James number and said that James would really like to hear from him he seemed a little surprised and excited and got his number from me. People were slowly filtering out at that point, I started getting quite a few hugs from people and a few tell James I said hi comments. Dale gave me a big hug and said it was really good to meet me and that he would call James. After a few more Lisa and I decided it was time to go. After more hugs and talk to ya laters we were out the door and on our way. I dropped Lisa off and then headed home to tell James ALL about it. He was really sad he didn't get to go but glad that I went. :)

Weekend Fun

We had a great weekend, my niece and her husband and little boy came up to visit. It was so good to see them cause we haven't seen them in awhile. We played some games and had dinner at our house and then went up to the Solomon Center at the Junction to watch some of the fun things. They have indoor surfing and a huge rock wall as well as indoor skydiving. It's a really neat place to check out if your in the Ogden area. It was so fun to watch their little boy Zach he was so intrigued by everything. It was so fun to see and spend time with them. We haven't hung out for a really long time. Thanks for coming guys it was so fun! :) Saturday started out fairly normal, James got up early to go teach his class and I slept in a little longer then listened to an audio book while I cleaned the house up a bit. I have decided to challenge myself this year with 100 books in 2010 (please see my book blog for more info) and after I signed up a couple weeks ago i did the math and realized how many books I needed to read a month and how far behind I was. So after a quick trip to the library and 7 books on cd later (and it is not cheating in my opinion to listen to a book instead of reading it. :p) I felt like I might be able to do it. I finished the book I was currently reading and one I had started while reading that one then dove into the library books. after 5 days I had finished 4 books...I actually might be able to do this. :) Saturday I finished Twilight...again. and then started another books. :) then James came out and the rest of the day was at Mom and Dad Armstrong's watching the Olympics. It was fun. :) Then Sunday was the usual Armstrong family dinner :p at Uncle Kim and Uncle Gordy's. We played games, ate dinner and watched the closing ceremonies. It was great.
