Life in the Fast Lane...kinda. :p

Well this weekend has been crazy. For the past few months I have been trying to get together a family reunion for the Earl side. We aren't that big on that side so I thought just a BBQ at the park would be great. Well this past weekend is when all of that finally happened. The morning started out kinda rocky. (see last post) But turned out great. We had a great turn out of people and had a great time. The sun even came out and it got pretty warm outside..warm enough for the kids to go run through the water at the splash pad. King of the Playground

Talk about perfect timing. :)Overall we had a really good day...we even was able to fix the posts on a leaning tree. :) I was really nervous about this event turning out so i am really happy it did. Thanks everyone for your help and for coming to play. :D After we got everything cleaned up James and I headed over to our friend Dawns house for a double date with her and Scott. It was fun we went out to dinner and Chili's then went to leatherby's for ice cream. After we went back to Dawn's house for a rousing game of.....well I cant remember the name of the first game...but it was fun. :) after that we played apples to apples. It was a lot of fun to meet Scott and enjoy an evening out with my hubby and friends. :) So fun in fact that I fell asleep on the couch while talking to everyone...oops sorry Dawn. By the time Sunday rolled around I was EXHAUSTED I didn't even make it through church. I had to go home to sleep and I barely made it through Sunday dinner. :p Oh well it was FUN!

Tender Mercies

"The Love of the Lord is shown in ALL things."

Well for the past 3 months I have been trying to get a Family Reunion planned with my dad's half of the family. I though everything was set until the week before when everything started to unravel. It was causing so much stress I couldn't believe it...well with the help of some of my family I was able to get it worked out. Everything again was going to be good....Until I woke up the next morning to pouring down rain. I thought well maybe it's just raining in Ogden. So we drove down to Riverton to find the sky pictured above...and COLD. We were all still going to meet there and figure out what we wanted to do. My cousin and his wife was there first so we met them there and started playing hostess while the whole time I was just wondering what we were going to do because of the weather. More and more people started to show up and I had noticed that there was a patch of blue sky that looked like it was coming our way. I was really hoping that was true. Well we decided to stay put and BBQ and see what happens. I must have been saying a lot of silent prayers cause before I knew it the skies were clear and it was starting to warm up quite a bit. I am so thankful that after months of planning that the Lord blessed us with great weather that we were able to enjoy our time with family.

Happy Birthday

We only have one birthday this month and that is my nephew Alec. Alec is quite the character he has a fun outgoing attitude and loves to make people laugh. He is very business savvy and loves to find new ways and new means to make some money. He loves hanging out with his friends and going on vacations with his family. He has a powerful and wonderful testimony of the gospel and is a great example to those around him So to you Alec on your very own special day. :)

Mountain Fun

This weekend we spent a lot of time up in the mountains it was so much fun. Friday we went to the wedding of one of my friends from work so on the way back we decided to go up the mountain for an evening drive. It was so pretty with the sunset and then seeing the lights of Eden and Huntsville. So pretty. Sat we were suppose to go hiking up Mt. Ogden but the weather wasn't cooperating so we decided to go up Adams canyon instead. Good thing too cause I was having a hard time going up all those steep hills and James said that pretty much the whole way up Mt. Ogden is like that. Adams was so pretty, it was nice to be in the woods again. Rosko had a lot of fun too and he was doing such a good job that on the way down the mountain we were able to take his leash off and just let him go. he stayed right with us....till some kids started to play with him and have races. After we hiked back we were so stiff and soar and tired. But we were able to kick back with our friends Alan and Raquel for a yummy BBQ and a movie later that night. Thanks guys! Well this was our fun weekend. Hope you enjoyed the pictures.

Tender Mercies

This past week has been a little hard on James. He has had a difficult time seeing the good things in life. On Thursday he was really down in the dumps, so I had suggested that we take a walk. We didn't realize just how yucky the weather was going to get. So we started out and got to the nature park when the wind really picked up and started blowing all this dust and nasty stuff and it started to rain big heavy drops of water and I thought wow this is really not going to help his spirits at all...if anything it might make him more grouchy. but then I heard him say "Wow that is really beautiful." I looked up to see the sun peaking through the clouds and the sky was full of big dandelion seeds. there had to have been thousands, it was such a beautiful sight. As we rounded the corner James nudged me and said "Hey Kris there's your rainbow." Sure enough there it was. Not one but two. When I looked at James he was actually smiling... his first real smile in a couple days. I am so thankful for a loving Heavenly Father who tells us in his own way how much he loves us and that we are important and special to him.

The Start of Summer.

Well not really the start but for me it has seemed like it. It has been so nice to be able to have my weekends back. When people ask if we want to do something on a Friday or Sat night I don't have to say that I have to work or I'll check my schedule. It's nice. This past weekend we had My niece and her husband and little boy over for dinner. We haven't seen them in so long so it was really nice to catch up and it was really good to see their cute little baby. The rest of the weekend was some much needed relaxing and also spending time with the family. It was great. I also wanted to let everyone know that on the 22nd of August I will be having a scentsy open house at my house. I would love to have you come if your interested.

Sunday Thoughts

In the April 2005 General Conference Elder Bednar gave his first talk as a apostle of God. His talk was on "The Tender Mercies of the Lord". In this talk he talks about how we can see the tender mercies of the Lord in everything. Elder Bednar talked about how he saw those mercies just before he got up to speak when the intermediate hymn was his favorite hymn “Redeemer of Israel”. About this he said "Near the conclusion of the singing, to my mind came this verse from the Book of Mormon: “But behold, I, Nephi, will show unto you that the tender mercies of the Lord are over all those whom he hath chosen, because of their faith, to make them mighty even unto the power of deliverance” (1 Ne. 1:20)." This talk is one of my all time favorite conference talks I was serving my mission at the time in a city called Pasay a distance from Manila in the Philippines. My companion and I were both having a difficult time with this area and we were feeling rather discouraged. Then we heard this talk and decided that we were going to stop looking at the bad and start looking for the tender mercies of the Lord as well as the everyday miracles. It really helped us through that tough time and ever since whenever I have felt discouraged I would always try to look for the tender mercies and everyday miracles that I know are out there.
