Eye Doctor and Bye to Christmas

Avery says she's been having troubles seeing the board at school, so off to the eye doc we go. Luckily he says her vision is still great and she just needs to try and rest her eyes from devices to see better. Sh

e was a little bummed because she wanted glasses, but I actually am very pleased. I could see her getting glasses and losing them, or not wearing them. When we got home I was ready for Christmas to come down too. So I started to take the tree and everything down. I am SO ready for the new year.

 

Making New Friends

The cat still doesn't quite know what to do about Dixie but I think they are slowly becoming friends.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!

The kids usually don't get up to super early which I am extremely thankful for. This was once of the rare years of them getting up earlier than usual. Now the usual time is somewhere in-between 7:30 and 8:00 o clock. But this year Avery was trying to wake Kilian up a little after 6:30; however she didn't really succeed until about 6:45ish. :D That boy loves his sleep. But by 7:17 we were up and checking out what Santa brought. I slipped breakfast in the oven to cook and then the kids got to tear into their Santa presents.

Dixie couldn't quite figure out what was going on but was loving the excitement of it all. After Santa gifts we had some breakfast...or correction James and I had breakfast the kids were still to excited to eat much. After breakfast was the rest of the presents.

I think the kids had a great Christmas this year. Later on that evening we went and picked up my aunt Norma and went to my parents house for Christmas dinner. It was great to visit with everyone; aunt Norma loved Dixie. After we got home from dinner we left the kids stay up for a little bit, but not to long since I had to go to work and James wanted them to sleep so he could sleep. :D

Christmas Eve

Another fun Christmas Eve in the books. :) We started a little later than we usually do since I didnt get home from work till about 7:30 and wanted to sleep. But we headed out for our hike and had a great time. This year we hiked on the cinder trail hike close to home. There is a west cinder cone trail and an east cinder cone trail. We went on the east trail. We took our new little puppy Dixie with us on our hike. She still hasn't learned to walk on a leash so she spent most of the hike in mine or James coat. It was a beautiful day for a hike today and the kids had a great time. Avery tried to hike straight up the cinder cone rather than take the trail round. Once we got to the end of the hike we were greeted by a number of beautiful designs made from these brilliant white rocks. It was so striking to see against the black and red lava rock. Avery even added her own little design to the mix before we hiked back down.

After the hike we went home for some dinner and the kids opened their Christmas jammies. I made Christmas breakfast so it could sit in the fridge and be ready to bake the next morning. Then we all got in the car and drove around to see lights. This was a little short this year too. The kids were just so amped up and didn't really want to go look at a lot of lights. So we hit a few of our favorites then headed home to watch A Christmas Story before sending the kids to bed. I think the hike did a very good job at wearing them out this year. Luckily I was also able to get work off tonight as well. Because I to was very tired. :p
