I really had today filled with a lot of activities. We weren't able to do it all but we still had fun. After lunch we headed up to Ogden to the Hill Aerospace Museum. I was able to get ahold of Nikki to let her know we were going to be there and would love to see her and her cute family. She had to finish up with work and then was going to meet us there. Avery by this time was tired and wasn't very happy about going until I told her that Parker and Andrew was going to meet up with us. That was the hope that kept her going. :p Kilian (of course) LOVED seeing the big planes and such. It's been a long time since I've been to this museum and was really happy to be here again.
One of the things that had been added since I had been there last was the chance to go inside and see the cockpit of a C-130. That was super cool, they had a little video explaining what the military uses for C-130 for. We were in here when Nikki, Justin, Parker and Andrew were able to meet up with us.
A veteran who volunteers at the museum took the time to tell us all about this unique helicopter that is used to help fight fires. Instead of one blade it has two that rotate in opposite directions so they don't hit each other and it creates a forceful down flow of wind to blow any flames on the ground away from the chopper so that the men inside can have a clear safe place to exit.
It was really hot outside and the kids were getting really tired. So we didn't spend as much time outside as I would have liked. It was a lot of fun...at least I thought so. It was really neat to be there with Justin and Nikki though. I would love to go back with them and be able to talk to Justin about all the history and types of planes and such. The little I was able to talk with him was really fascinating. Also the air force was having a retirement ceremony while we were there and so we didn't get to see the part of the museum where that was being held. After saying our goodbyes to the Wardell's we went to McDonalds for some dinner and headed back to Shelly and Nathan's for a nice relaxing movie night with them.
