HAPPY HALLOWEEN

Halloween this year was done a little differently and I think its going to go down in history (our own family history) as one of the most memorable ones ever. Once again due to Covid a lot of people aren't doing trick or treating. So we decided to have a Family Halloween party at our house. Abby is still living with Mom and Dad Armstrong and Lisa is down from Washington. She's been stuck in her house quarantined pretty much all year long, who wouldn't want a getaway. All day/morning I have been trying to get ready for everyone. Cleaning the house, doing dishes and helping get costumes put together. My parents showed up a little early to see the kids in their costumes and to give them a XL bar of chocolate as their trick or treat candy. They said they had some neighbor kids coming over so they couldn't stay long. They left after awhile and very shortly after they left Abby, Lisa and Mom and Dad A  showed up. we were all ready for them. I put on some fun Halloween music and we made some mummy dogs for dinner and had fun appetizers. While we waited for dinner we visited and the kids proudly showed off their costumes. After dinner Mom A actually had an idea that she set up. She had brought some candy and divided it out to all of us. we then each chose a room/door to hide in. James was in our room, Lisa was in the living room, Abby was in Avery's room, Grumpy was in Kilian's room, I was in the laundry room and Nona was in the pantry. :p The kids then got to go around to each room a few times knocking on the door and trick or treat at each place. we each had enough candy for them to go around 4 times. James wasn't quite aware of this and gave them all his candy the first time. He came in the laundry room with me and on the last time pranked the kids by having a chicken in his hands to "give" to them. Avery and Kilian thought it was SO much fun and were glad they were still able to go trick or treating. After the kids poured out their candy to check out their haul while we all sat and talked till everyone was starting to get tired and decided to call it a night. I get the lucky misfortune of being here at work while everyone gets to sleep. :p But that's ok. It really was a fun Halloween for all.

Halloween Fun

Today has been a busy day. It started with Avery headed to school, I drove her to the bus stop so she wouldn't have to walk/bike in her costume. I am so glad I did too, it was so fun to see all the kids in their costumes. This one kid was a bee and had a full body bee costume on When the bus came and he ran for the bus his little bee but and stinger was waddling back and forth. It was just so funny. Later on in the day the school had a costume parade. Normally they allow parents to come and watch but because of Covid (blah) they asked the parents to please stay home. But they did do a live video feed so we could still participate, they also did the parade outside around the school so kids wouldn't have to wear their masks. The video they did was a little spotty and had poor connection, but it was still fun to be able to participate in a way. Avery's teacher sent me this picture after the parade.

After Avery got home we had a little downtime before it was off to a trunk of treat in Hilldale/Colorado City. They had a huge turnout of people both to give out candy and families with kids to get the candy. :p Avery and Kilian had so much fun and got so much candy that Kilian wanted me to hold his bag for him. He particularly enjoyed visiting the policeman with their lights on their cars flashing as well as the fireman. Overall a very fun and tiring day.

Costumes Calling

It is drawing ever nearer to Halloween and fun times to be had by all.... Wellas much fun as we can under the Covid restrictions. *sigh* I cant believe how many things we have missed out on due to "covid annoying" Well we can still make it fun. Tonight the kids wanted to try on and put final touches onto their costumes. Kilian made a last minute change to his costume idea. He wanted to be Spiderman, but after we got out the box of costumes he found his baby shark costume from last year and was insistent that he be baby shark again this year. So here I am with one happy toddler and a brand new Spiderman costume up for sale.

Avery wants to be a zombie bride. I was going to try and go to the D.I. and find a wedding type looking white dress but time and money just seem to fly by and vanish. So we got one of her old church dressed a gold glittery one and made it into a zombie dress. I tore and ripped holes and we added fake blood, I then did her makeup so she could get an idea of how everything would look once it was all finished.  Now that she has seen what her costume is going to look like she is SUPER excited.

Snuggles and Painted Rocks

Having Kilian lay down and take a nap with me is a pretty rare thing these days. He's getting so big. SO when he does want to snuggle up and take a nap I definitely cherish that time with him. I technically get to snuggle with him every night because he still refuses to sleep in his bed. But day time naps are different somehow.

I have also started painting rocks again for the fall and Halloween season I seriously love painting and can sometimes amaze myself with what I can do. I love learning new techniques and trying new ideas and seeing them turn out either how I had planned or better. Painting is just very soothing and therapeutic.

O Look Another Glorious Morning

I know I have written about this before. But I am truly blessed to be able to witness such beautiful sunrises on my way home from work. They never cease to amaze me and always take my breath away. It also makes working graves worth it to be able to come home and see my two sweet boys snuggled up together. Oh how I love my family.
