Weekend Baking Fun

This past weekend was filled with fun and I'd like to share some of them with you. Friday...well Friday wasn't that great, I tried to get my shopping done, but there was so many people...and not just any people RUDE PEOPLE. :( I forget for some reason how crazy people get when it's getting down to the last week/weekend before Christmas and they need to get their shopping done. I finally just grabbed 1 present for James a few for co-workers and the last things I needed for baking the next day and I got out of there. FAST! I had to go get James from class and I was fuming by the time i got there, I just couldn't believe how rude the people were...Sorry I wont vent. Anyway after getting James we braved one more store so he could pick up some stuff and then we were off to enjoy the rest of our evening. That night I slept pretty good...until I woke up around 4 AM and realized that for the first time ever I get to do some holiday baking for out neighbors, I got really excited and had a hard time getting back to sleep. Finally at 8 i got up and James and I started to prepare. Lisa was going to be spending the weekend over at Mom and Dad's so since mom was coming over to help me prepare the turkey for tomorrow she stopped in to help. It started out a little rocky... I started to melt the chocolate for reindeer fodder(Yes I did document my entire holiday baking experience. :p Oh and the picture is turned funny...sorry) After I got the chocolate ready and it started to melt I started mixing all the things together and realized...I didn't have marshmallows. So off to the store goes James and Lisa and I start adding the rest of the ingredients and mix it all up...which wasn't much.

The chocolate melted a lot quicker then I expected so I added that and hoped i could still get the marshmallows in before everything hardened

They got back in time to add the marshmallows and complete this one Christmas goodie. :) The rest of the day went great, We did a lot and got some great candy and goodies ready...now we just need to put them on plates and take them to the neighbors. :) Here are some others we did...
Well this was my baking experience this past Sat. It was A LOT of fun and I really look forward to doing this every year. :)

Happy Birthday!

Today is Tanners birthday and i wanted to wish him a happy one. :) Tanner is such a cutie, he's a little shy at first but once you get him going he can talk and tell you some really great stories. Tanner is a boy that knows what he wants and what he has, he loves his family and spending time with them. He loves to play sports and is on the football team at his school. Tanner is a sweet boy and loves to remind you how much he loves you with a quick hug or friendly hi. So here's to you Tanner on your Fun day. :)

Happy Birthday!

Today is my brothers birthday and I wanted to wish him a happy birthday. :) Jason is someone who loves to laugh and make jokes, he has a big smile and fun laugh to hear. He is also the father if 4. He loves his wife and family so much and would do anything for them. Jason also loves sports...it doesn't matter what kind...basketball, baseball, football, soccer, golf, all of them he LOVES them. he loves watching, playing and coaching them. He loves taking his son out to go play a little catch or to hit some balls on the green. So here's to you Jason on your happy day. I hope you have a great one. :)

The Joy, and Fear of Martial Arts.

Before I start this post because of the title, I would like to state for the record :) that I am very excited that James is involved with martial arts and I support him 100% in this. But I do get nervous and scared sometimes...especially when blood is involved. Now moving forward... last night James had a sparring class he likes to go to. So I thought it would be fun to drop him off and then head up to my in laws house to spend some time with my mother in law. We had a lot of fun talking; she showed me some great tips for the dinner I'll be cooking for this Sunday's family dinner. (more to come later) So when 7:55 rolled around I knew I needed to head back down to James' school to pick him up. When I got there I was greeted with a huge smile and THIS...

(He wasn't very pleased when I told him I wanted to take pictures when we got home so I could blog about it. For you Katie. :D) I asked him what happened and he gave the typical guy answer which was "I got hit" Well DUH I can see that. :p So after asking a whole bunch of questions to try and get the whole story out of him he told me. First off James isn't a fan of sparring, in fact he really doesn't like it and sometimes wishes he didn't have to do it, but he likes going to sparring class cause he learns a lot and he wants to improve his sparring skills. Apparently when he spars with someone he is very aggressive and instead of backing away he lunges in. At one point when he did this, he got punched in the nose. He said it started to bleed really bad so after he took care of his nose he got back into everything and this big guy punched him in the eye, James said he didn't think anything of it. He even had someone tell him he was bleeding, James thought he was talking about his nose and said he was alright. After class the teacher came up to him and had to tell him that they weren't even talking about his eye. James thought it was so funny (until I told him I wanted pictures.) and said it didn't even look bad. What is with boys? The first thing that ran through my head is that that guys thumb could have slipped and went into his eye and other things, His reaction is that it doesn't even look that cool. I am one for cool cuts and bruises and things like that, but when I have a husband that thinks he doesn't need to go to the doctor unless his bone is sticking out of his arm and even then I know I'd have to convince him to go to the emergency room. Some of the injuries he gets from martial arts scares me a bit. When he was in Mike Shaw's Tae Kwon Do he had a testing where he had to break this one board to pass, I think he broke it on his second try but his knuckle was really red and swollen. It got really big, and his dad and I tried to tell him to get it checked out and he never did till it started causing him problems. So he had it checked out and found out that he had a hairline fracture but that because he waited so long they couldn't do anything about it. The doctor told him he couldn't use that hand a lot (especially to break boards) until it healed all the way. Anyway I've been rambling. :p Thanks for reading.

Christmas Fun

Well The Christmas fun started and I hope it doesn't stop. :) Last week on the 9th we had a Relief Society Christmas dinner. It was a lot of fun, they had everything all decked out with Christmas lights, tree's, ornaments. It was very pretty. We had a nice dinner and desert and then a musical group called Kids R Music sang for us. They were really very good and a lot of fun. It was a really nice evening and a lot of fun spending that time with the lady's in my ward. Well later that weekend the fun didn't stop. :) I have been watching TONS of Christmas movies, any Christmas movie I can get my hands on I watch. :) That's what I did Friday night was just watch Christmas movies. James didn't get home until pretty late and he brought Nate over for a fun sleepover. Nate was having so much fun. For Christmas James and I found that we could afford a wii this Christmas at the black Friday sells. So we decided to get one for Christmas. Already knowing what it is we went ahead and set it up. So when Nate was over, he was going back and forth between the wii and the computer games. All we have right now is the wii sports games so when he got bored he would go play a game on the computer. It was fun to watch him get into the games. At one point James was dozing on the couch when Nate came over and handed him the wii remote mid game and told him he was tired and asked if he could take over. We stayed up till about 1:00 playing games with him and then decided to call it a night. The next morning bright and early Nate was up and all I heard was a small whisper asking James if he could play the wii. :p I must have been really tired cause I didn't wake up till about 10:00. by that time James was trying to get Nate ready to go home so that he could make his basketball game at 11:00. James had told him that after he was done with the game he was playing that they needed to go. I was in the kitchen getting something to eat when Nate came in and asked since James was outside could he just play one more game. :p It was pretty cute. The rest of the day was cleaning up the house till finally I was done and wanted to go to the South Ogden tree lighting. Well by the time we got down there we only had a few minutes left so we went to the Christmas Village in Ogden instead. I LOVE the Christmas Village it's so fun. The lights are so pretty, and this year we remembered our cash so that we could get some hot cocoa. It was a great way to end the day and a fun date night with James. :) Here are some pictures, the battieries on our camera were dying so i took some pictures with my phone,oh and sorry if they seem out of focus...I think it was because I was shaking because I was cold.

Thanksgiving pictures

My computer at work was re-imaged this week and has been acting up and not being a good computer like it's suppose to. So I have only been able to post a few pictures. So here are some more pictures of our Thanksgiving weekend. Enjoy! :)This is one of my favorites...I was bummed to see it didn't turn out very well.

Thanksgiving weekend.

We had the chance to stay at my mom and dad's house for the whole weekend which was really nice. :) So the day after thanksgiving we had big plans, we were going to go to the temple at 10 come home for some lunch and then go cut down our Christmas tree. Well things started out good. We made it on time to the temple, had a beautiful experience there and then after we headed home. After we got out of the temple, I had this horrible headache, which I thought was just because I was hungry and that once I got food in my stomach everything would be fine...it wasn't. After I ate food it seemed to get worse. I laid down on the couch and watched some TV with everyone, after awhile it was clear that my head wasn't getting any better. So we canceled the Christmas tree and I took a nap while James helped me by putting a nice cold cloth on my head and ice on my neck. He's so wonderful! :) After a good long nap I woke up to find everyone playing with Kari and David's wii. Shelly and Nathan came over with their kids for dinner. The rest of the night we watched TV and played with the wii. One of the great things I love about going down to my parents house....I get to relax and not feel guilty. :) because of some air mattress malfunctions mom and dad insisted on us sleeping in their bed that night, It was SO nice James and i both slept so good. Around 9:30 Dad came knocking on the door telling us that just because we got to sleep in their bed didn't mean we could keep it all day. :p We would have probably slept till 10 or so before we woke up it felt so nice. :) but after getting up for the day and getting ready we were off to get our Christmas tree. YAY! We made the short drive to the other side of Monticello and then went up the mountain. there was a lot of really pretty trees..on the private property. :p Ain't it always the way. But right across the cattle guard Dad stopped and pointed to a little tree. It was so small and cute but we wanted to see what else there was. So we drove on. We stopped and looked at a lot of different tree's we would walk to one and then see another in the distance and walk to it. till suddenly it was between 2 trees and da dada da..this one was the winner.We had a lot of fun finding this little tree...Rosko did too. He was following Tukker everywhere and rolling in the dirt. It was his kind of place. :pGetting the chainsaw ready
cuttin it down. :) The weather was so beautiful and everything went so smoothly. As soon as we got home though it started to rain really hard...and then hail. It was crazy. James and Dad wrapped the tree up in the tarp and put it in the barn. After some lunch it was still hailing pretty good. but James and I wanted to do some shooting. So we set up the targets anyway and after working through a few different things we had no problems except for the weather. :) Despite that it was really fun. James and I both shot quite a few before we became so numb that we went in. Dad stayed out with us for awhile and he would watch were we were shooting with the binoculars and tell us if we hit the target or which way to go to hit it. :) James and I both were excited about how many we were hitting. After we came in and got warmer up. James sat to watch the BYU/Utah game and I had the chance to help mom wrap presents. this is something that we look forward to ever year. Except it's usually a little different. Mom and I will go to the library to rent the A&E version of Pride and Prejudice and watch that while we wrap. But this year it was a football game and we wrapped on the table instead of on the floor. Oh well it was still fun. :) After the game was over and the presents were wrapped for the rest of the night we had fun with the family playing the wii. Sunday was my mom and dad's farewell talk at church. James and I got a little bit of a later start so we snuck in during the opening hymn...but we made it. :D Mom and Dad did great. Mom talked on seeing the Lords hand in our lives and told some stories about when she saw the Lords hand in her life. it was fun hearing the stories. Dad talked about being to casual in our lives, his talk really got me thinking and do a self evaluation on my life and how I am doing. They both did so great and I am so proud of them. After we had some time to mingle with the family as well as see some old friends from the ward. there were a few more I wanted to say hi to but Kari's husband David started to have a diabetic reaction and we needed to get him home as soon as possible. We said our last goodbyes to the family and then went back to the house. We got some lunch and then started packing for the trip home. When Mom and Dad got home we spent a little more time with them but then realized it was getting late and so we said our goodbyes and headed out. The drive went by fairly quickly and we were able to make the last bit of Sunday dinner at Nikki's house. :)

Today is Roberts birthday and I wanted to wish him a happy birthday. :) Robert or Rob or Bob. :) is my brother in law and a lot of fun. He's very athletic and loves to be involved on teams. He has a ultimate Frisbee team that he plays with in the summer time that he loves. Bob is also a great uncle, he loves spending time with the kids either one on one when he takes them to different places or as a group when he comes up for Sunday dinner. They absolutely love him. Bob loves to travel and have fun with family and friends he is always looking for the next adventure. So here's to you Bob on your big day.
