Abby Update

Well there has been quite a bit going on with Abby that I should have kept you all updates with earlier. But better late than never. Abby's teacher came to Nikki and said they wanted to put together a benefit concert to help them out with all the medical bills. They've been working on it for awhile. The concert is going to be April 21st at Ogden High at 7PM. T minus 5 will perform and there has been a large response. Unfortunately some has been bad...but we don't focus on that. :) Abby has a HUGE support group behind her and we are all so very thankful for that. There have been quite a number of people who have donated to the silent auction both individuals and companies a like. We really hope that we get a large turn out for this. Some local business's have also been spreading the word. KSL even did a story on it. You can see it HERE.
Last week Abby went in for some more tests to see how her pacemaker was doing. She  did really well on all her tests. But after talking about what her heart would do if she started to gain any weight and add more stress the doctors decided to put Abby on the heart transplant list as a 1B.
Yesterday morning while James was getting ready for work, we got a call from Dad A. Abby was heading into the hospital. They had a donor that was going to pass away and she was the one to get the donors heart. We couldn't believe it. It seemed so fast. Then the bitter sweet set in. We're so happy that Abby was going to get a new heart but at the same time we felt bad for the poor family who was going to lose a loved one.
Abby went in at 4:30 AM this morning. She's out of surgery and off the bypass machine. Her doctor said that the heart is a good strong heart and is beating well. He said that Abby is doing well. She's going to have quite a long recovery, at least 1 month in the hospital and then 5-6 months at her home. If everyone could please keep her and her family in your prayers so that she may have a quick recovery. We would sure appreciate it.  I'll do better at keeping you updated on her condition.

Easter

For Easter weekend we went down to Monticello to visit my parents and we weren't the only ones who had the same idea. It was so good to see so much of my family. Saturday we all went to Natural Bridges to do some hiking. It was so much fun. My Mom with her bum foot and me being pregnant we were still able to keep up with the group fairly well. Later that night we all went over to my sisters house for an egg hunt and to have dinner. We ended up using flashlights to find the rest of the eggs. We had a great time. We even played this game called curses, it's really hard to explain but a lot of fun.
Sunday morning the Earl kids got to see what the Easter bunny brought them. Cierra had this box of robin eggs, it looked a lot like a small carton of milk. Jason wanted to see what Rosko would do with it. So he got Rosko's attention and put the box in the entrance of the other room. Rosko picked it up and brought it right back to Cierra and looked at her expecting her to open it and give him a treat. :D It was so cute. Everyone came over for Sunday brunch and we got to spend a little more time with family before everyone headed home. It was a fun weekend. It was so nice to go back to my parents house and see everyone. I haven't been to their house since the 24th of July last year. Here are some pictures of our adventure.

Dog/Cat of the week

Ok So I forgot to explain how dog and cat of the week works now. Usually what I do is choose a shelter and post dogs and cats from that particular shelter. However some shelters are restricting the use of their pictures and websites and some are just posting their animals on petfinder.com.  So I have set up a new system, this is how it works. Once a week I choose a pet to feature on my blog. I add the picture and the Petfinder ID # with the listing. If you click on the pet and add that ID # you can find the dog/cat of the week, where it's located and any other information you want. It's that simple. You can also check out other pets wanting to be adopted around your area. So if your looking for a pet, please remember that there are hundreds of fun, loving, playful and caring pets waiting to be adopted by you.

Our Life as of Late

Sorry I know I haven't been doing the best of job keeping everyone updates on this blog. We've been having some fun and spending a lot of time with family. 2 weekends ago my parents came down to visit us. It was a lot of fun having them here. We went to St. George for my dad's never ending shopping list. We spent time with my Uncle Glenn. We kinda dropped in on them and surprised them...a good surprise though. :)Then we explored Cedar City a little more. We took them to this museum that we've been wanting to go to. Its called the Frontier Homestead Museum. Dad kept telling us that he doesn't really like museums and that he's probably going to get tired really quick. We actually ended up waiting for him and trying to drag him out. :p It was really interesting and fun. It was really great to have them visit. Here are some pictures from the museum.

This past weekend we had a chance to go up to Ogden for Mom A.'s birthday and to see Abby's play. We had a really great weekend. Abby did a great job and it was so much fun to watch her. She played one of the choir kids and was also the daughter of Benjamin and his wife. As always she looked like she was completely in her element and having so much fun. We couldn't get pictures of her performance but the playhouse always posts something on their facebook page. Ill post those when they do. Well thats all for now. This coming weekend is Easter so I'll try and do better about blogging.

Baby Update

Baby is doing good, the doctor says that she is very healthy. She is getting bigger, which is making me look bigger. :p She moves around all the time. She is constantly kicking and hitting me. :) James thinks it's hilarious. Sometimes she really packs a punch and it'll hurt a bit. On Sunday James and I were  watching a movie. James leaned over and started rubbing my belly. Then he started talking to her. Well we must have been really quiet and when James started talking to her it must have startled her cause right after he started talking to her it felt like she jumped and kicked me really hard. :p It was funny. All is going well. I am 29 weeks and only have 11 weeks left which is scary but exciting at the same time. We have narrowed the names down to 3 but there is one that we really like and as of right now we have been calling her by this name. Nope sorry not going to say what these names are. :D I don't want it to get stolen. When we finally get to meet her we'll see if this name matches her. yay!

Cedar City Adventures

We decided to get out of the house and go explore our surroundings. My uncle Glenn and his wife Norma lives in La Verkin. So we gave them a call and headed down to their house on Saturday. (march 3) They took us to Zions and showed us a few of their favorite spots. It was a lot of fun, I had never been to Zions so I was really excited. Here are some pictures of our weekend.

Our New Adventure

Well we're here. Well technically James has been here since the first of Feb. I drove down on Friday after my last day at LDSBC. We are slowly getting settled in. While James is at work I have been doing laundry and going through box's trying to find places for everything. To be honest I am so bored! In between cleaning the new apartment and putting stuff away, I am job searching also. Which has proven a little harder than what I had thought it was going to be. The people here seam to be one extreme or the other. You have the really friendly ones who chat with you to the point where it weirds you out cause I'm so use to city living. Then there's the people who get mad at you and are mean to you for no particular reason. Living here is going to be quite the adjustment. The baby is doing good. I met with my new doctor yesterday and although it is a male. He was very friendly and I think I could become quite comfortable with him. Baby's heart is very strong and she is very active. I can feel her moving quite a bit and she punches and kicks a lot. :p Well that's really all there is to tell right now. If anyone knows of any jobs in Cedar City please let me know. I would like to stay in the Cedar City area and not go to St. George but we'll see how well that goes. If your in the area please let us know. We would love to see familiar faces. Till next time. :)

Saying Goodbye

For the Past 5 years I have been working at the LDS Business College. I started out there as the receptionist and was promoted to the Housing Representative and then the Housing Supervisor. I cant even begin to explain my fond affections towards this place. I have learned some amazing things and met some amazing people. I have gained stronger work skills and have improved my work ethnic. I have worked with some of the most inspired and brilliant minds that I have ever come across and I have made some life long friends. Today is my last day here at the college. To be honest I am not ready for this to be my last day. As I pack up my office and give final training and instruction to my students employee and others who will be taking over my job till they find a replacement. It takes pretty much all I have not to burst into tears. I know that the Lord wants James and I in Cedar City. I know that we are following his guidance and instruction. But as much as I know this, it doesn't make it any less difficult. But i will leave today knowing that I was able to be apart of something great. even if it was a short 5 years only. I helped to establish the housing office when one didn't even exist before I was placed in that department. I have helped students, parents, families and single mothers. I have had the great opportunity to be in the presence of apostles of the Lord and to even dine with them. I have very fond memories of the College and hope that maybe someday I might be able to return. So here's to a wonderful experience and hope to the future. Wish us luck! :)
